Automation technology operates at the intersection of electronics, computer science, mechanical engineering, and economics. The main challenge lies in optimising time, costs, quality, resources and the environment. Individual and modular solutions are becoming increasingly important, and we train practically experienced automation engineers in both our bachelor’s and the master’s degree programmes.

 

The Department of Automation Technology at FH CAMPUS 02 offers the following degree courses:

 

  • Bachelor’s degree programme “Smart Automation” (language of instruction: English)

The full-time bachelor’s degree program in Smart Automation is conducted entirely in English and focuses on various aspects of computer science and electronics. The degree programme is organized in a “career-enabling” way with courses scheduled from Monday to Wednesday, allowing part-time professional employment.

  • Bachelor’s degree programme “Automation Technology” (language of instruction: German)

The part-time bachelor’s degree programme in Automation Technology is strongly interdisciplinary and oriented towards technical and operational activities, which makes our students a sought-after all-round talent in the world of technology. Additionally, the high proportion of elective courses allows for an ideal combination of work and study.

  • Master’s degree programme “Automation Technology – Business” (language of instruction: German)

The part-time master’s degree programme in Automation Technology – Business prepares executives for the business world. The goal is to enable graduates to independently manage and/or undertake development activities within or on behalf of companies both domestically and internationally.

 

As an established research partner for the industry, the Department of Automation Technology offers an extensive expertise in a wide range of topics in automation technology. Research and development projects are primarily conducted by full-time lecturers and research assistants. These projects often form the basis for student assignments, as well as bachelor’s and master’s theses, ensuring a direct connection of academic work to real-world applications. The concurrent research, development, and teaching activities ensure that the latest trends and issues from both SMBs and industrial enterprises are continuously integrated into the curriculum.

Companies will find the R&D team at the Department of Automation Technology to be a knowledgeable and responsive partner, proficient at understanding industry needs, tracking economic trends, and creating practical, innovative solutions.
