From June 4 to 5, Fraunhofer IZM hosted the EPIC Technology Meeting on Photonic Integration and Packaging, which featured a number of interesting sessions on this topic.On June 5, Rudolf Heer, Head of Research Unit Electronic Sensors at SAL, gave a presentation about the "Validation Lab @SAL for Photonic Packaging Ageing Evaluation". In his presentation he emphasized the advantages of our state-of-the-art Validation Lab in Graz. In order to ensure the #durability and #reliability of electronic components, our Validation Lab enables testing under different environmental aspects. We currently offer tools and feedback concepts to improve the design of electronics with respect to #robustness, #aging and #lifetime. We also support product redesign through the implementation of application relevant test procedures. In the near future we will also offer tests for package leakage, polluted atmosphere, altitude conditions, lifetime testing (HAST), solar radiation, temperature gradients and HALT/HASS.A big shout out also to EPIC – EUROPEAN PHOTONICS INDUSTRY CONSORTIUM for organizing this great event and their dedicated work!
